Assam Building & Other Construction Worker's Welfare Board

The Assam Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board was constituted by the Government of Assam vide Notification No. GLR(RC)135/2007/22 dt. 12/02/08 under Section 18 of Building & Other Construction Workers (RE&CS) Act, 1996 primarily for taking focused initiatives to ensure that the Building and Other Construction workers are not being exploited and appropriate welfare benefits are provided to them ensuring a healthy and safe working conditions. The board has rolled out many flagship initiatives for the well-being of the construction workers. Assam Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board is a tripartite body with representatives from employers, unions, and Government officials.

The Board has currently registered more than 7 lakhs building and construction workers as beneficiaries and has also formulated various welfare schemes such as Pension benefits, marriage assistance, maternity assistance, death benefits, skill training, medical assistance, educational assistance, cash awards, transit/night shelters for the upliftment of the construction workers.

Guidelines

ABOCWW board has developed a new portal (Nirman Sakhi) for providing all facilities (registration, renewal, subscription fee payment etc.) online. Hence, the workers already registered to the board need to go through an onboarding process (by filling the details, Aadhaar authentication, eShram validation and by uploading the required documents as proofs) to be a part of the new portal and to continue availing welfare schemes. Before applying for renewal, registered workers must complete onboarding on the Nirman Sakhi portal.
